Draymond Green returns to Warriors on 1-year, $27.7M deal
Draymond Green is staying with the Golden State Warriors. The veteran forward signed a one-year, $27.7 million contract after declining his previous player option earlier this summer.
This decision arrived following a period of uncertainty. Green initially opted out of his contract to provide financial flexibility for the Warriors during their pursuit of LeBron James. When James signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, the path opened for Green to negotiate his return to the team where he has played for 14 seasons.
His tenure with the franchise is the second-longest active streak in the league, trailing only Stephen Curry. The relationship faced pressure in February when trade discussions involving Giannis Antetokounmpo placed Green in the middle of organizational roster pivots. Green acknowledged the friction at the time, noting his understanding of the professional nature of the NBA.
Going into his 15th season, Green remains a rotation fixture. While his total minutes have decreased, he played 68 games last year and averaged 27.5 minutes per game. The team enters this new chapter with Green continuing his role alongside the core unit as they prepare for the 2027 offseason cycle.
