The league also explored holding its inaugural game in Doha, Qatar, where the Qatar Investment Authority holds a minority stake in the Wizards' parent company, but those arrangements remained unfinalized.
Despite this pause, the league’s broader multi-year collaboration with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism remains active. This partnership includes youth development programs and marketing initiatives that continue despite the absence of games this preseason.

Formula 1, for example, recently announced that its previously postponed race in Bahrain will move to a new venue in Malaysia this October.
