Chase Bank to Be First-Ever Jersey Patch Sponsor for Ohio State Athletics
Ohio State Athletics officially enters a new era this season as the university introduces jersey patch sponsorships for all 36 varsity sports teams. Chase Bank serves as the inaugural partner, marking a significant commercial milestone for the Buckeyes. The deal represents one of the most prominent sponsorship agreements in college athletics to date.
Athletic director Ross Bjork confirmed that the partnership extends well beyond branding on uniforms. JPMorganChase will provide targeted financial literacy resources for student-athletes and create new NIL opportunities. The collaboration also establishes the bank as the presenting sponsor for the 1922 Club at Ohio Stadium, while offering exclusive perks and ticket access for Chase cardholders.
Financial details remain private, though industry reports suggest the annual value of this arrangement sits near 17 million dollars. Ohio State began seeking a partner in January following NCAA approval for uniform patches. The selection process prioritized brands with local ties and long-term values, leading the university to choose the Columbus-based financial institution.
The Chase Bank logo will make its debut on the football field when Ohio State faces Ball State on September 5. This move aligns with broader shifts in college sports business models, where schools continue to seek additional revenue streams to sustain competitive programs. By tethering their brand to the largest bank in the United States, Ohio State aims to secure its fiscal standing while providing tangible benefits for its athletes and fan base.
