Ohio State Football Players Coach Campers, Bring Joy at Special Skills Football Invitational

The Woody Hayes Athletic Center recently hosted the annual Special Skills Football Invitational. Members of the Ohio State football team spent their afternoon coaching more than 150 athletes from across the state. Players from every position group participated in the event, running drills and interacting with campers just weeks before the start of preseason camp.

Safety Earl Little Jr. noted the importance of connecting with the local community. He described the event as a positive experience that allows campers to enjoy the same turf used by the Buckeyes. The players led various exercises, including blocking drills, and focused on ensuring the participants had a memorable experience on the field.

Veteran players and newcomers alike contributed to the day. Center Carson Hinzman, who has participated in the invitational throughout his career, praised the work ethic of the campers. Defensive tackle Eddrick Houston emphasized his goal of making the athletes smile, highlighting how a simple interaction can have a significant impact on someone's day.

New tight end Hunter Welcing, who joined the team earlier this year, expressed his appreciation for the support he has received in Columbus. He joined other teammates in signing autographs and taking photos after the session concluded. The event provided the team a brief break from their demanding summer workout schedule.

The Buckeyes now return to their preparations for the upcoming season. Preseason camp is scheduled to begin on August 6. Players view these community events as a vital part of their responsibilities while they continue to push through the rigors of their athletic training.
