Wife of Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy reportedly shot at couple's home, son Elijah arrested

Reports confirm that Mia Bieniemy, wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was shot at the couple's home in Virginia on Sunday night. Local law enforcement arrived at the scene around 7:30 p.m. following reports of the incident. Mia Bieniemy sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her arm and chest, according to news outlets. She is currently hospitalized and listed in stable condition.

Elijah Zion Bieniemy, the son of the couple, was arrested by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. He faces charges including malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling. He is currently held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke about the situation on Monday. He confirmed that the team is aware of the incident and stated that the organization is offering support to the Bieniemy family. Reid noted that Eric Bieniemy was not present at practice on Monday and his return date remains unclear.

This event occurs as the Chiefs prepare for the upcoming NFL season. Eric Bieniemy rejoined the coaching staff this year after stints with the Washington Commanders and UCLA.
