While this preference for natural grass is clear among the rank and file, any move to mandate it across the league will require significant negotiation. The NFL Players Association is currently weighing whether to make grass fields a primary demand in future collective bargaining talks. However, the path to a league-wide change is difficult and costly.

For the remaining venues that transitioned back to synthetic turf immediately following the World Cup, the wait continues.
