Ravens waive rookie Diego Pavia to make room for Ethan Pocic
The Baltimore Ravens made a roster move on Thursday ahead of the start of training camp. The organization waived rookie quarterback Diego Pavia to open a spot for veteran center Ethan Pocic. Pocic officially finalized his one-year contract with the team, a deal valued at up to 4.5 million dollars.
Pavia joined the Ravens in April as an undrafted free agent after a standout college career. He finished his final collegiate season as a Heisman Trophy finalist, passing for 29 touchdowns and adding 10 rushing scores. Despite his accolades, including SEC Offensive Player of the Year honors, he did not hear his name called in the draft due to questions regarding his age, height, and off-field decisions.
Even with the departure of the rookie signal-caller, the Ravens maintain depth at the position. Lamar Jackson remains the starter, supported by veterans Tyler Huntley and Skylar Thompson. The team also retains undrafted quarterback Joe Fagnano on the current roster.
The team is set to open training camp this week as they prepare for the upcoming season. Rookies and quarterbacks report for initial activities on Friday, with the full team schedule starting on Wednesday.
