Blue Jackets, Cole Sillinger reach 3-year deal to avoid arbitration

The Columbus Blue Jackets have reached a three-year contract extension with forward Cole Sillinger. The agreement is worth $13.875 million and successfully prevents the case from going to arbitration.

Sillinger was selected by the Blue Jackets in the first round of the 2021 NHL Draft. Over his five-year career, the 23-year-old has played 367 games, recording 51 goals and 140 points. Last season marked a point of stability for the forward as he transitioned from center to the left wing.

General Manager Don Waddell noted that the organization values the player's consistency and his development as a two-way forward. Sillinger tied his career high of 33 points during the previous campaign. With this deal secured, the team maintains a key piece of its roster for the next three seasons.
