Canadiens, Ducks Complete Minor Swap
The Anaheim Ducks and Montreal Canadiens completed a minor trade, swapping forwards Sean Farrell and Sasha Pastujov. Both players are currently without contracts for the 2026-27 season as they look for new opportunities.
Sean Farrell, a 24-year-old drafted 124th overall in 2020, developed through the Chicago Steel and Harvard University before spending time with the AHL's Laval Rocket. He provided 125 points over 186 games in the AHL but struggled to secure a consistent role with the Canadiens.
Sasha Pastujov was drafted 66th overall by the Ducks in 2021. He brings a similar resume to the deal, having spent the last three years with the San Diego Gulls, where he put up 125 points in 160 games. Both organizations clearly feel a change in scenery serves these prospects better at this point in their development.
This transaction is a standard minor-league adjustment intended to provide fresh starts for two young players with similar AHL production levels. Neither player is under contract, which adds a layer of uncertainty for both teams as they head into the upcoming season.
