Chelsea FC has officially completed the signing of Valentin Barco from RC Strasbourg. The 22-year-old Argentine international joins the squad on a contract lasting until 2033, marking a move to Stamford Bridge under the guidance of manager Xabi Alonso.

Barco started his professional career in his home country at Boca Juniors. He moved to England in 2024 to play for Brighton & Hove Albion before gaining experience during loan spells at Sevilla and RC Strasbourg. He eventually made his transfer to Strasbourg permanent, where he became a key contributor during the 2024/25 season. His performances helped the club secure a spot in European competition.

Over the previous campaign, the midfielder contributed to 12 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions. This consistency earned him a place in the Argentina national squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He currently holds five international caps.

Barco is scheduled to join up with his new team-mates later in the pre-season schedule. His arrival adds depth to the midfield options available to Alonso as the club prepares for the upcoming term.
