Rain disrupted Sunday play at the National Bank Open in Montreal, leading officials to cancel the remainder of the day's matches. Despite the inclement weather, two players managed to finish their opening round contests.
Shang Juncheng secured a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Adolfo Daniel Vallejo. This win marks a significant return for the Chinese player who spent much of the current season sidelined due to injury. He now prepares for a second round meeting with the 10th seed, Andrey Rublev.
In the other completed match, Jaume Munar defeated Rinky Hijikata 7-6(3), 6-3. Munar overcame pressure points throughout the match, saving six of the nine break chances he faced. He moves on to face 27th seed Alexander Blockx.
Other scheduled matches were caught mid-play when the storms arrived. Aleksandar Kovacevic and Nuno Borges were tied in their third set, while Michael Zheng and Miomir Kecmanovic had split sets before the suspension. These matches and the rest of the original Sunday order of play will resume on Monday.
