Google is updating the Find Hub on Wear OS devices to include a new Find People app. Previously, this hub was restricted to locating your own hardware, but the change brings contact tracking to the wrist. The new feature allows users to see a list of people who can currently view their location and duration settings.
While the addition is notable, the current implementation is basic. Users who open the app on their watch do not see a map display on their wrist. Instead, the interface provides a status note indicating that specific contacts can see your location until you disable the permission. It includes a link that prompts users to view the map data on their paired phone.
It is possible that this is an early rollout or that future server-side updates will introduce a map view similar to the device-tracking version of the app. During testing, users noted a bug when selecting settings, which occasionally redirects them to the full Google Play services menu rather than a local settings page.
This update, version 1.0.429.0, is available through the Play Store. It represents the latest move by the company to expand its tracking ecosystem following the recent announcement of hardware trackers like the Pixel Tag.
