Motorola appears ready to challenge the premium smartwatch market with the upcoming Moto Watch Ultra. Recently leaked images show the device featuring a robust stainless steel case that offers water resistance up to 5 ATM. This rating allows for use during swimming, marking a shift toward more durable hardware for the company.
The design features a 46-millimeter diameter and retains a control scheme based on a touchscreen, a digital crown, and an additional side button. These elements mirror the look of the existing Moto Watch lineup but move the hardware into a more heavy-duty category. The wider bezel and the dial layout suggest a focus on outdoor utility.
Technically, the watch includes significant upgrades. A new PPG sensor array on the back uses five LEDs and four photodiodes to track heart rate and likely blood oxygen saturation. A metal ring around the sensor module hints at additional health tracking capabilities such as ECG or BIA readings, though official confirmation on these sensors is currently pending.
The device integrates both a GPS module and an LTE modem. This independence from a smartphone allows users to track distance and receive notifications while running or cycling. Motorola has not yet provided an official release date, pricing information, or specific details regarding the operating system, leaving questions open about whether the watch runs a simple RTOS or Google’s Wear OS.
