Internet speeds across Greece saw a major jump in 2025, according to data from the National Telecommunications and Post Commission. The average download speed climbed to 163.82 megabits per second, marking a 47.66 percent increase over the 110.94 Mbps recorded in 2024. This change reflects the aggressive rollout of fiber-to-the-home infrastructure.

While the average speed figures highlight the growth, the median download speed provides a clearer picture of the typical user experience. This metric rose from 70.42 Mbps to 91.74 Mbps, an increase of 30.28 percent. This gap between the average and the median indicates that while many households are enjoying high-speed fiber, a significant portion of the population remains on older, slower copper-based connections.

The Surge in Upload Capabilities

The most dramatic change occurred in upload speeds. These figures more than tripled throughout the year. The average upload speed jumped from 25.18 Mbps to 80.38 Mbps, a gain of 219.21 percent. This shift is critical for remote work, cloud storage, and high-definition video conferencing, which rely heavily on consistent upload throughput.

The median upload speed also saw a notable climb. It reached 13.88 Mbps in 2025, up from 9.62 Mbps the year prior. This represents a 44.28 percent improvement.
