Kansas’ first internet exchange point installed near Wichita State University

Previously, internet traffic from Wichita had to travel as far as Kansas City and back to complete requests. This long-distance routing introduces delays and can create unnecessary bottlenecks for local users. By localizing this data exchange, the new center keeps traffic close to home for area residents and businesses.
The project is managed by Connected Nation and features a carrier-neutral design. This means multiple providers can use the facility, which aims to drive down costs and improve service quality for the community. The installation represents a shift in how mid-sized cities handle regional network connectivity.
Technicians expect the site to be fully operational within the next two months. By reducing the distance data must travel, the center will lower latency and boost network performance for the entire Wichita area. Security is also a primary goal, as the hub provides a more controlled and resilient environment for local digital activity.
