More than 1,800 homes and businesses in Louisville are now connected to high-speed internet. This project marks a significant step forward in addressing the local digital divide.
The expansion resulted from a partnership between the Louisville Metro Government and Spectrum. Spectrum provided an investment of more than $5 million for the infrastructure. The local government contributed an additional $780,000 to the effort.
Mayor Craig Greenberg stated that high-speed internet is now a basic requirement for daily life. Residents depend on these connections for learning, working, and operating businesses. Access is also critical for daily tasks like managing healthcare, food services, and personal documentation.
City officials expect these new connections to provide better opportunities for families and businesses in previously underserved areas of the city.
