Spectrum has completed an expansion project in Seminole County that provides high-speed internet to more than 900 additional homes and small businesses. This infrastructure update brings connection speeds up to 1 gigabit per second to these local locations along with access to television, voice, and mobile services. The project is part of a larger, multi-year construction initiative that uses over 7 billion dollars in private investment to bring fiber-optic network coverage to rural and underserved regions across the country. Spectrum aims to reach more than 1.7 million new locations nationwide through this ongoing program.
Beyond the infrastructure work, the company is also investing in local digital literacy. Spectrum presented a 15,000 dollar Beyond the Build Digital Education grant to the Christian Tech Center Ministries in Longwood. This financial contribution is meant to provide students and local families with better tools for digital access and learning. The presentation took place at the organization's headquarters on West State Road 434.
Local leadership sees this infrastructure project as a move toward better community connectivity. Andria Herr, chairwoman of the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners, noted that this expansion helps address the digital divide in the area. She stated that providing reliable internet access remains a necessary step for the growth of local businesses and for the continued success of area families.
