Apple released software updates on Monday to address 29 security vulnerabilities. The patches cover iOS 26.6.1, iPadOS 26.6.1, and macOS 26.6.2. These updates stop several risks, including an issue that allowed apps to leak sensitive audio data and another involving image processing that led to arbitrary code execution. Users should also note that a Safari crash triggered by malicious web content is now resolved.
The company advises all users to install these updates immediately. On an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings, then General, and select Software Update. For Mac users, navigate to System Settings, then General, and click Software Update. The update file for iPhones is approximately 500MB if you are updating from the previous version.
This release follows recent reports of mercenary spyware threats affecting users in 110 countries. Apple maintains that users targeted by such sophisticated surveillance tools should enable Lockdown Mode. The company does not disclose the criteria used for these warnings to prevent attackers from adapting their methods.
Looking ahead, Apple is preparing for a transition in leadership. John Ternus is set to take over as CEO from Tim Cook on September 1. Following this shift, the company expects to announce new hardware, including the latest generation of iPhones, AirPods, and Apple Watches. Industry observers anticipate the debut of the first foldable iPhone and camera-equipped earbuds at that time.
