Motorola Expands Portfolio at IFA Berlin
Motorola brought a collection of new hardware to IFA in Berlin on September 3, 2026. The most striking addition to the product lineup is a Swarovski-encrusted variant of the Motorola Razr 2026, known as the Razr 70 in European markets. This limited edition device features a quilted back panel adorned with 35 hand-positioned crystals. A single 32-facet crystal sits directly on the hinge mechanism. The base model of this foldable earned an 8/10 score in previous assessments, largely due to its efficient charging speeds and a high-functioning external cover screen.
The standard Razr 2026 maintains an $800 price point for general consumers. However, the Swarovski edition commands a premium, listing at 1,000 euros, or roughly $1,159. This specific design choice signals a move to position the folding form factor as a luxury fashion accessory rather than a purely functional piece of hardware. While the interior technology remains consistent with the original release, the external finish represents a significant departure from the standard colorways.
New Edge Series Hardware Specifications
Beyond the foldable lineup, Motorola introduced the Edge 70 Plus and the Edge 70 Plus Neo. These devices arrive as successors to the Edge 70 model that launched in November 2025. While the previous iteration emphasized a slim 5.99mm frame, these new models measure 8.49mm in thickness. This increase in physical depth accommodates much larger internal batteries. The Edge 70 Plus houses a 6,500-mAh battery, while the Edge 70 Plus Neo carries a 7,000-mAh capacity.
Performance on both handsets relies on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. The devices feature 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED displays, maintaining consistency in visual quality across the new mid-range options. Color availability includes several Pantone-certified shades such as mountain view green, gray lilac, milky blue, and sage. Users can expect these phones to support extended daily usage due to the significant capacity increase in the power cells.
Camera Distinctions and Watch Integration
Photography capabilities create the primary functional divide between the two new Edge devices. The Edge 70 Plus ships with a 200-megapixel main sensor. In contrast, the Edge 70 Plus Neo uses a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 710 sensor. While the Plus model carries a higher megapixel count, the Neo’s sensor is designed for improved dynamic range and lower noise in dim lighting. This highlights the reality that raw pixel counts do not equate to superior image output.
Motorola also debuted the Moto Watch Ultra during the event. This wearable introduces LTE connectivity to the existing watch line. The device features a 1.5-inch OLED display and a 46mm chassis. Polar provides the underlying software for activity and sleep tracking, continuing a partnership established earlier this year. The watch is priced at 429 euros, or $497. The company hopes this version addresses previous accuracy issues regarding step counts in earlier models, while also offering new features like a dedicated running coach.
Additional accessories unveiled at the conference include the Moto Snap Wireless Charger. This unit supports 25-watt wireless charging for standard Qi-compatible products. It pushes up to 30 watts for compatible Motorola devices using the company’s proprietary charging protocols. These additions suggest an effort to build a more cohesive ecosystem around the core handset lineup as the company looks to maintain market presence throughout the final quarter of the year.
