Samsung hasn't given up on bringing S Pen back to Galaxy Z Fold phones

Samsung is keeping the door open for the return of S Pen support in its Galaxy Z Fold lineup. While current models like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra lack the feature to accommodate a slimmer design, the company is actively investigating hardware solutions to change this.

HS Moon, the Vice President of Mobile R&D Hardware at Samsung, confirmed that the engineering team continues to test technologies that house a digitizer within a thinner chassis. The goal is to provide the functionality users expect without adding bulk to the foldable phone.

S Pen integration was a staple of the Z Fold series starting with the third generation. The subsequent decision to remove it for the sake of a reduced profile disappointed many power users who relied on the large display for productivity and creative tasks.

History suggests that design trade-offs are often temporary as component technology advances. Samsung has successfully reduced display creases and increased battery life in recent iterations of its foldables.
