Tecno's New Concept May Be The First Truly Bezel-Less Smartphone

Tecno is preparing to debut a new concept smartphone at IFA 2026 that claims to eliminate display bezels entirely. While major manufacturers like Apple and Samsung currently hover around 90 percent screen-to-body ratios, Tecno states its new design reaches zero millimeters of border.

The company achieves this through reengineered internal stacking and screen packaging techniques. These modifications allow for the removal of the remaining space usually required for internal circuitry and safety clearances. This design approach aims to provide a more immersive visual experience by removing all physical edges around the display panel.

Technical challenges remain regarding how the device handles grip and accidental touch sensitivity. Because current flagship devices often rely on those minimal borders to house sensors or provide a place for fingers to rest, the design introduces new questions about usability. Tecno intends for this design to define the visual identity of its future product lines.

Tecno has a history of showcasing experimental hardware concepts at trade shows. Previous demonstrations have included modular devices and retractable lenses. The company operates primarily outside of North American and Western European markets, though a design shift this significant often attracts attention from global competitors. We expect to see a physical demonstration of the device next month in Berlin.
