Flat2VR Studios has officially announced that the comedic sci-fi shooter High on Life is coming to virtual reality. The studio is working alongside Squanch Games to bring the title to Meta Quest, PSVR 2, and SteamVR headsets by 2027.
This project focuses on translating the original game’s mechanics into a VR-native experience. Players can expect to interact with the game’s signature living guns and navigate the alien cartel war with new controls designed specifically for headset hardware. Developers have confirmed that the game already runs natively on Meta Quest hardware, which suggests a high level of performance optimization for standalone systems.
While the original flatscreen version of the game launched in 2022 to critical attention for its humor and world-building, this upcoming port is a standalone experience. It will be released as a separate title from the original version. Those interested in keeping track of the development can now wishlist the game on the Horizon Store, Steam, and the PlayStation Store.
The announcement arrived as part of the August 2026 VR Games Showcase. While no specific release date is available yet beyond the 2027 target window, the collaboration marks a significant expansion for the High on Life franchise into the VR space.
