Jury in Lindsay Clancy trial hears ex-husband Patrick's 911 call after murders of 3 children
The murder trial of Lindsay Clancy entered its second day of testimony on Wednesday in Plymouth Superior Court. The proceedings focused on the emotional testimony of Patrick Clancy, the ex-husband of the defendant. He spent two days on the witness stand detailing the events of January 24, 2023, the day his three young children were killed.
During his time on the stand, jurors heard the 911 call Patrick Clancy made after discovering the scene in his Duxbury home. He described coming home to a quiet house, finding a locked bedroom door, and eventually discovering his children in the basement with exercise bands around their necks. Patrick also testified about finding Lindsay Clancy outside the home after she had attempted to end her own life.
Defense attorneys used cross-examination to discuss Lindsay Clancy's mental health history. They highlighted her struggles with severe sleep deprivation and anxiety in the months leading up to the tragedy. The defense introduced entries from a medication diary that referenced intrusive thoughts and prescription drug use. Patrick Clancy acknowledged that his ex-wife had been a dedicated mother who cared for the children before her mental health deteriorated.
Other witnesses provided brief testimony regarding the hours leading up to the incident. A hostess at a local restaurant and a pharmacy manager both described interactions with Lindsay Clancy that day as normal. Prosecutors have argued that these errands were part of a plan to send Patrick out of the house, while the defense continues to focus on the severe mental health issues present at the time.
Judge William Sullivan scheduled a jury visit to the family home for Friday. The trial will continue with additional witness testimony as the court examines the sequence of events that led to the deaths of Cora, Dawson, and Callan Clancy.
