Democrats nominate Troy Jackson to replace Graham Platner in must-win Maine Senate race

Maine Democrats have officially nominated former state Senate President Troy Jackson as their candidate to challenge Republican Senator Susan Collins. This decision follows the departure of the previous nominee, Graham Platner, who withdrew his campaign earlier this month amid allegations of sexual assault. During a convention held in Bangor, Jackson secured nearly unanimous support from party delegates, marking the start of a 101-day sprint toward the November election.

Jackson, who hails from the small town of Allagash in Aroostook County, is positioning his campaign as a direct appeal to working-class voters.
