German police hunt suspect in Berlin Pride van-ramming attack that left 1 dead and 16 injured

German authorities are currently engaged in a manhunt for a 21-year-old suspect in connection to a fatal vehicle attack at Berlin's Pride festival. Late Saturday evening, a van drove into a crowd in the Tiergarten park, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to at least 16 others. Witnesses reported that individuals fled the vehicle, and there were also reports of stabbings at the scene.

Police have identified the suspect as Abdul B. Law enforcement confirmed the individual is known to them due to past associations with Islamic groups within the city. Officers conducted searches across the district, including an operation in the Schöneberg area, though the suspect remains at large. The public is advised to maintain distance, as the suspect may be armed and dangerous.

The incident forced the immediate cancellation of the Christopher Street Day festivities. Organizers noted that the parade, which had drawn hundreds of thousands of participants, was meant to be a display of solidarity and visibility for the community. Instead, it ended in a state of emergency near the Brandenburg Gate.

Berlin officials expressed shock at the violence. Mayor Kai Wegner and other leaders have condemned the event, labeling it an attack on the values of the society. Security measures remain high as police continue their search operations to locate the fugitive.
