A Palestinian American has returned to his family home in Qusra, a village in the occupied West Bank, to help defend the property during an ongoing siege. For more than a week, groups of settlers have surrounded multiple Palestinian residences, preventing families from leaving their homes.
The situation remains tense as settler violence in the region increases. Reports indicate that settlers have been moving through the area on ATVs and interacting with military personnel stationed nearby. Local accounts describe an environment where residents fear for their safety as access to their own homes is restricted.
Loui Ridi, an Ohio resident who owns one of the targeted properties, traveled back to the West Bank on Monday to assist his relatives. His family members had been sheltering inside the house to prevent it from being seized or damaged. Ridi arrived at the property carrying an American flag after military forces allowed him passage to the village, which is located southeast of Nablus.
International attention remains focused on the area, with the United States issuing statements against the ongoing blockade. While the Israeli military has established a presence in the area and declared parts of the neighborhood a closed military zone, residents continue to report harassment and property damage in the village and surrounding regions. The conflict reflects a wider trend of instability in the territory throughout the year.
