Bot-detection startup Spur nabs $200M from Insight
Spur Intelligence, a Florida-based cybersecurity startup, has secured $200 million in new funding. Insight Partners led the investment round. The company focuses on identifying the difference between legitimate human internet traffic and malicious automated bots.
Founded in 2017 by former Defense Department engineers, Spur operates in a market where the volume of automated traffic has reached record levels. Recent industry reports confirm that bots now account for more internet activity than human users. This shift creates significant blind spots for organizations that struggle to see the infrastructure behind incoming requests.
Thomas Krane from Insight Partners noted that criminal groups now use sophisticated proxy networks and anonymization tools to hide their activities. Spur aims to provide visibility into these networks. The capital will support the company as it scales its detection technology to meet the rising demand for enterprise security solutions.
This funding arrives as businesses face increased pressure to verify users while maintaining security standards. With bot traffic exceeding human activity, the role of specialized detection software is increasingly critical for network protection.
