ADP National Employment Report: Private Sector Employment Increased by 98000 Jobs in June; Annual Pay was Up 4.4%
The private sector added 98,000 jobs in June according to the latest data from the ADP National Employment Report. This report, produced in partnership with the Stanford Digital Economy Lab, tracks payroll data for over 26 million employees across the United States. Job creation remained uneven across sectors throughout the month.
Service-providing industries drove the majority of the growth with 96,000 new positions. Education and health services led the gains, while the leisure and hospitality sector saw continued weakness in hiring. Goods-producing industries saw a modest increase of 2,000 jobs. Regionally, the South accounted for the highest number of new additions at 37,000.
Wage data shows that median pay gains for those who stayed in their current jobs held steady at 4.4 percent. Meanwhile, workers who changed jobs saw an acceleration in pay growth to 6.6 percent. Small establishments with fewer than 20 employees led hiring among business sizes with 38,000 new roles.
Dr. Nela Richardson, chief economist at ADP, notes that the current hiring pace reflects a balance of supply and demand constraints. The data indicates it is taking longer for job seekers to find new roles in specific sectors. This report provides a high-frequency look at the labor market based on actual payroll observations rather than survey estimates.
The next report is scheduled for release on August 5, 2026. Interested parties can access interactive charts and historical data through the official ADP employment report portal to monitor specific trends by state, industry, and establishment size.
