Governor Kim Reynolds has officially appointed Martin Noven as the new CEO of the Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System. Noven is scheduled to begin his tenure on August 24, filling the leadership vacancy created by the resignation of the former CEO earlier this year.

Noven arrives in Iowa with a significant background in public sector pension management. He served as the executive director of the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System between 2021 and 2025. This experience is expected to provide the necessary oversight for the administration of retirement benefits for Iowa public employees.

The appointment comes during a transition period for the agency. The Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System manages retirement assets for a wide range of public sector workers across the state, making the leadership role critical to the financial stability of those participants.

State officials confirmed the appointment on Friday, August 7. The board and stakeholders now look toward the upcoming start date to stabilize the executive leadership of the fund.
