Graphic Design Couple Takes the Helm at Red Hook Stationery Co.

Shane and Lauren Fallon have officially taken ownership of Red Hook Stationery Co. after purchasing the business from founder Marie Uridia. The couple, who operate their own graphic design firm, Fallon Creative Studio LLC, discovered the listing online and were immediately drawn to the community-focused nature of the shop. They completed the transition on July 7 and have spent the last two weeks settling into the daily operations of the store.

For the Fallons, the transition represents a move away from working exclusively from home in Poughkeepsie. While they intend to maintain the core identity of the store that customers have supported for the last three years, they plan to integrate their professional background into the space. The second floor of the building has been converted into an office for their design business, allowing them to balance both professional ventures in one location.

The new owners are focused on incremental changes rather than an overhaul. Customers can expect to see expanded offerings in the coming months, including specialized pens, notebooks, and a wider range of local apparel featuring Red Hook branding. Additionally, the pair is currently developing a website to provide an online ordering option for patrons. They have been active in polling local shoppers about product preferences to ensure the store continues to meet neighborhood demand.

Marie Uridia, who opened the shop three years ago, vetted around 50 potential buyers before selecting the Fallons. She noted that their genuine approach and alignment with the store’s existing vibe made them the right choice for succession. The Fallons expressed appreciation for the detailed hand-off process, noting that Uridia provided comprehensive operational records that eased the adjustment period. As they move forward, the couple aims to anchor their professional lives in the local community while preserving the foundation established by the previous owner.
