Mac Casa / CTA | Creative Architects

Mac Casa by CTA Creative Architects serves as a study in residential design without walls. Located on a dense urban townhouse plot, the project functions as an annex to a primary residence. Architects Vo The Duy and Nguyen Thi Xuan Thanh designed the home to prioritize a connection to the environment by removing traditional barriers between indoor and outdoor zones.

The layout integrates three primary green pockets along the longitudinal axis of the site. Instead of using partitions, the design team utilized changes in floor elevation to define living areas. The front of the house contains active spaces like the kitchen and living room, while the rear houses a quiet workspace and a jacuzzi. Privacy is maintained by high boundary walls and a security system rather than standard doors.

A curved roof system spans the structure to provide shade and manage heat. The interior remains cool as air moves across the front garden and water features before entering the house. A linear glass skylight with Z-shaped louvers allows natural light to reach the center of the home while venting hot air. This ventilation strategy keeps the home comfortable without the need for constant mechanical cooling.

The aesthetic relies on raw materials including exposed brick, wood, and stone. By choosing these textures, the architects create a space that feels like an extension of the surrounding landscape. The result is a structure that operates as a bridge between urban density and natural relief, offering a living experience that mimics a stroll through a private garden.
