What is Dungeon Crawler Carl ? Everything we know about the hit book series’ upcoming Peacock show
The hit LitRPG series Dungeon Crawler Carl is heading to television. Peacock is officially developing a live-action adaptation of the novels written by Matt Dinniman. The story follows Carl, a Coast Guard veteran and survivor of an alien apocalypse who must compete in a deadly, reality-based game show broadcast to the entire galaxy. He is joined by his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, who possesses the ability to talk and cast magic.
The series gained a massive following through self-publishing and word-of-mouth momentum on social media. With over 10 million copies sold worldwide and a spot on the New York Times best-seller list, it has moved from internet fringes into the mainstream. The upcoming television show will focus on the events of the first book.
Production is currently underway with Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door banner leading the project. Writer Chris Yost, known for his work on several major science fiction properties, serves as a primary creative force. While details regarding the release date remain under wraps, the show’s first casting announcement has already occurred.
At San Diego Comic-Con, fans learned that Jeff Hays, the voice artist who narrated the popular audiobooks for the series, will voice Princess Donut. Producers noted that Hays was the clear choice for the character given his history with the material. Fans continue to track further updates as this project moves through development stages.
