Earl Spencer is set to release a new book titled Swan Song: Diana, My Sister next month. This publication offers his personal account of his sister, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, as the 30th anniversary of her passing approaches.
Spencer states that he remains inundated with interview requests about his sister. He wrote this book to present his own memories and thoughts directly, aiming to clarify facts that he feels have been obscured by years of outside commentary. He wants to address inaccuracies that have become accepted public knowledge over the decades.
The book intends to capture the real personality of the late Princess from the viewpoint of her brother. Spencer describes her as a character who possessed great love and charisma while also facing internal doubts. He wants readers who were too young to remember her life to gain a clearer understanding of the person she was beyond her public status.
Penguin Michael Joseph will publish the work on 22 September in the UK. This follows Spencer's previous public commitment to preserve his sister's memory, notably during his eulogy at Westminster Abbey in 1997. The book serves as a record from someone who knew her closely, providing a personal perspective on her legacy.
