James Beard award-winning author Michael Shaikh is returning to Cleveland for a special event at The Friars’ Table on September 22. Shaikh, who spent his formative years between Cleveland and Karachi, will host a dinner and Q&A session to discuss his recent book, The Last Sweet Bite.
The discussion centers on the intersection of cuisine, cultural evolution, and the impact of conflict on local food traditions. Shaikh’s book examines how communities work to maintain their culinary identity in the face of war. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a book signing during the evening.
The event takes place at 1305 Euclid Avenue. The venue is operated with consulting by Brandon Chrostowski of Edwins Leadership and Restaurant Institute. Tickets are priced at $50 and include the dinner. Given the limited seating available, those interested should secure their spots through OpenTable or by contacting the restaurant directly.
