Scoop: "Regime Change" sells 500,000 — on track for nonfiction bestseller of '26
The book Regime Change, written by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, reached a significant sales milestone this week. The exposé on President Trump’s second term sold 500,000 units in its first month of release. This total includes hardcover, audio, and e-book formats. Simon & Schuster ordered a seventh printing to meet demand, bringing the total number of hardcovers in print to 460,000.
Industry analysts previously predicted a decline for political nonfiction. Recent market reports suggested that audiobooks, newsletters, and streaming media contributed to a downturn for books in this category. However, this project holds the top spot on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list for three consecutive weeks. It also maintains high rankings in Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, and the UK.
Representatives from the Javelin agency, which represents the authors, stated that this book performs well because it provides a clear narrative for readers who want to understand current events. The authors secured deep access to internal White House details, providing information that even the administration has not challenged. This publication remains on track to be the top-selling nonfiction book of 2026.
