Insight Editions has released two new books detailing the production of Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster film The Odyssey. The film made history by becoming the first narrative feature shot entirely on Imax cameras and recently surpassed $1 billion in global ticket sales.
The first book titled Filming the Odyssey: Inside the Making of Christopher Nolan’s Modern Epic chronicles the creation of the project from the initial script through the final cut. It features interviews with the cast and crew including Tom Holland and Matt Damon. Holland notes the unique technical challenge of managing the Imax equipment on set while Damon discusses the custom gear used to manage the sound of the cameras.
A second companion book titled The World of the Odyssey is scheduled for release in September. This publication acts as a visual guide to the film with character profiles and behind-the-scenes insights into the narrative. It focuses on the storytelling choices and technical execution that shaped the final product.
Casting director John Papsidera provides insight into selecting Zendaya for the role of Athena in the books. The content highlights the collaborative environment on set and the specific creative vision Nolan applied to the adaptation of Homer’s work. These volumes offer a clear look at how the production team handled the technical and creative demands of such a large-scale project.
