US singer Chris Brown pleads guilty to brawling at London nightclub

Singer Chris Brown entered a guilty plea at London’s Southwark Crown Court on Friday regarding an affray charge stemming from a 2023 nightclub incident. The court hearing follows a physical altercation at the Tape nightclub in the Mayfair district, where a music producer sustained injuries. Prosecutors stated that surveillance footage captured the event.

In exchange for the guilty plea, authorities dropped multiple charges, including assault, attempted grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon. Brown’s associate, Omololu Akinlolu, also pleaded guilty to the same charge. Both men were previously set for trial in October before this development changed the legal proceedings.

Brown remains out on bail following his court appearance. The sentencing date is set for October 26, where the court will address the affray charge. This offense carries a maximum potential prison sentence of three years under United Kingdom law. The Crown Prosecution Service emphasized that violence in public spaces remains a priority for the justice system.

Following the hearing, Brown exited the courthouse while acknowledging fans in attendance. He arrived at the venue wearing a tan suit and a baseball cap. Brown has maintained a career in the music industry since 2005 and earned his most recent Grammy award in 2025.
