Ed Harris says he was ready to leave Dutton Ranch after feeling misled about his role

Actor Ed Harris recently shared his frustration regarding his work on the series Dutton Ranch. While the show became a hit on Paramount+, Harris stated that his experience behind the scenes was far from positive during the first season.

Harris revealed he signed on for the project under the impression he was one of the four main leads. Upon starting production, he realized this description did not match the reality of his character, veterinarian Everett McKinney. The discrepancy between what he was promised and what he received led him to consider leaving the production entirely.

In a recent interview with Variety, the veteran actor spoke about the situation with his characteristic honesty. He noted that while his character holds a place of relative importance within the narrative, the day-to-day experience of filming failed to reflect the lead status he was initially pitched.

Despite the friction during the early stages, Harris teased that his role is set to expand in the upcoming second season. It remains to be seen how the creative team navigates this shift and whether future scripts better align with his expectations for the project.
