Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Widow Sues His Mother Over Prenuptial Agreement
Dr. Tenisha Warner has filed a lawsuit in DeKalb County Superior Court against her mother-in-law, Pamela Warner. The legal action centers on the estate of the late actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner and a dispute regarding the couple’s prenuptial agreement.
The lawsuit, filed on the anniversary of the actor’s death in Costa Rica, alleges that several financial obligations established in the 2017 prenuptial agreement remain unfulfilled. Dr. Warner claims she is owed benefits including a life insurance policy payout, monthly payments for her role as his chief of staff, annual anniversary payments, and funding for specific retirement and college accounts.
The actor’s estate is estimated to be worth between $3.4 million and $6 million. Dr. Warner is seeking over $1.2 million in compensation and has requested that the court halt the distribution of trust assets until the matter is resolved. Pamela Warner, who serves as the trustee for the family trust, has not issued a formal response to the claims.
In public remarks, Pamela Warner referenced the challenges of the past year and the lessons learned from the situation. The court will now decide how to proceed with the asset distribution and the validity of the claims made against the estate.
