The family of Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard has released details regarding his upcoming memorial services following his death earlier this week. The musician, known for his work in the film Once, died at age 56 after a motorcycle accident.

A public wake is scheduled for Monday, August 3, at the Baroque Chapel within the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin. Visitors are invited to pay their respects between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. during this period of repose.

The funeral service follows on Tuesday, August 4, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. The family notes that while the service is open to the public, space inside the cathedral is limited. They have arranged for a public address system outside the venue for those unable to enter, and the event will be broadcast on RTE News and the RIP.IE website. Hansard’s friends and family will provide the music for the service.

In place of flowers or gifts, the family requests that supporters donate to either the Dublin Simon Community or Ukrainian Action. They have also asked for privacy during this difficult time as they manage the arrangements.
