Homer Gere On Working With Kaia Gerber on The Shards
Homer Gere and Kaia Gerber are working together on the new FX series The Shards. The project brings the two actors together on screen three decades after their parents, Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford, ended their marriage in 1995. While the public connection is notable, both actors describe their professional relationship as standard and straightforward.
Speaking at the New York City premiere, Homer Gere mentioned that he and Kaia had not met prior to the production. The two actors connected during a cast gathering at a bar two weeks before filming commenced and quickly established a friendship. From his perspective, the working environment is normal and professional despite the historical link between their families.
Kaia Gerber also addressed the collaboration, noting that the experience has been positive. She praised Homer as a scene partner and described the atmosphere on set as supportive. According to Gerber, the pair developed a close friendship throughout the production process.
Adapted from the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, The Shards takes place in 1981 Los Angeles. The story follows a circle of high school friends as a serial killer terrorizes the city. The series is directed by Ryan Murphy, who Gerber noted was responsible for providing her with her first career opportunity. The project is set to premiere on FX on August 5.
