Fans at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery received a major surprise during a Cinespia screening of the 1998 cult classic Practical Magic. Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock made an unannounced appearance to address the crowd and introduce the next chapter of the film franchise.
The two stars toasted the audience with margaritas to celebrate the film’s lasting legacy. They were joined by Joey King and Maisie Williams who play the next generation of Owens sisters in the upcoming sequel. The event served as a promotional kickoff for the new movie which lands in theaters on September 11.
Directed by Susanne Bier the sequel picks up 28 years later as the family confronts a persistent 300-year-old curse. While the original film focused on Sally and Gilly the new story shifts to Sally's daughter Kylie as she attempts to break the cycle. The production features returning cast members including Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest alongside newcomers like Lee Pace.
This screening was part of the ongoing 25th-anniversary celebration of the Cinespia series in Los Angeles. The outdoor event included attendees dressed in various witch-themed outfits to mark the occasion. The sequel is written by Akiva Goldsman and Georgia Pritchett with a plot based on the fourth book in the Alice Hoffman series.
