Millions see leaked copy of The Odyssey movie on X
Christopher Nolan’s latest film, The Odyssey, recently faced a high-profile security challenge on X. A leaked, high-quality version of the three-hour movie appeared on the platform this weekend, accumulating over two million views within just two and a half hours. The account responsible for the leak was suspended shortly after the content gained traction.
Universal Studios confirmed it is aware of the situation and has initiated standard takedown protocols. The studio maintains a strict stance on copyright infringement and is pursuing remedies to protect its intellectual property rights. A second, lower-quality version of the film also surfaced briefly on Sunday but was removed by the platform after gathering nearly 50,000 views.
Despite the unauthorized distribution, the leak appears to have had little impact on the commercial success of the film. The Odyssey continues to perform strongly at the global box office, recently adding $215 million during its second weekend. This brings the total worldwide gross to approximately $640 million.
Nolan filmed The Odyssey entirely in the 70mm format, specifically to provide a high-resolution experience for large-format Imax screens. This production choice emphasizes the director's preference for theater-based viewing over digital streaming or mobile consumption.
