Former To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen is speaking out about the upcoming film Primetime. The project stars Robert Pattinson as a character based on Hansen, but the real-life reporter remains skeptical of the production. During a recent podcast appearance, Hansen noted that the film appears heavily dramatized and questioned the motives behind the project.

Hansen confirmed he had no creative input in the movie. Although production reached out months ago to suggest he might have a role in the process, no actual collaboration occurred. He pointed out that he did not have the opportunity to choose the actor cast to portray him. He had previously imagined Denis Leary as a better fit for the role depending on the timeline of the narrative.

While Hansen has not seen the final cut of the film, he expects to attend a private screening soon to offer his verdict. He suspects the studio used his name to bolster the commercial prospects of the movie rather than to capture an accurate portrayal of his professional experience. He maintains that it is premature to pass a final judgment before viewing the complete production.

As a reporter, Hansen views the situation through a critical lens. He plans to analyze how much of the screenwriting process relied on artistic license compared to his real investigative work. The film, directed by Lance Oppenheim, is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 25.
