Disney hosted its D23 event in Anaheim this past weekend, providing a look at the film and television schedule for the next several years. The event serves as the primary stage for the company to announce updates regarding its animation, live-action, and streaming projects.
The film slate includes several sequels. Frozen 3 is scheduled for November 2027, and Incredibles 3 arrives in summer 2028. Pixar also confirmed Coco 2 is in production for a November 2029 release. Other notable film updates include the live-action Tangled for 2028 and the expansion of the Zootopia series with a third installment.
Marvel and Star Wars projects remain central to the production strategy. Avengers: Doomsday moves toward a December theatrical release. The company also announced a new X-Men cast and set a May 2027 date for the Star Wars film titled Starfighter. Disney+ programming includes the second season of Ahsoka and a three-part series based on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
Beyond traditional film and television, Disney is moving into new territory with its stage productions and adaptations. The Greatest Showman will premiere in London in spring 2027. Additionally, the company is producing an original anime series based on the Kingdom Hearts video game franchise.
