Universal Pictures marked the 25th anniversary of The Fast and the Furious with a special screening event in Los Angeles. Original cast members including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Tyrese Gibson gathered at Directors Village to commemorate the milestone. Meadow Walker, daughter of the late Paul Walker, also attended the event.
The film premiered in 2001 and sparked a global franchise that spans over two decades. Following the initial release, the series expanded through multiple installments directed by filmmakers such as John Singleton, Justin Lin, James Wan, and F. Gary Gray. The property grew from a focused street racing story into an expansive action series, culminating in the upcoming film Fast Forever.
Production remains active as the studio prepares for the final installment, which is scheduled for release on March 17, 2028. Louis Leterrier is set to direct the concluding chapter. Vin Diesel confirmed his return to the role of Dominic Toretto for this final entry, noting he recently reviewed the script provided by writer Mike Leslie.
The franchise has maintained significant cultural relevance since its inception. From the original 2001 film to the most recent entry, Fast X, the series has consistently evolved while maintaining its core focus on automotive action and ensemble cast dynamics. Fans continue to track the developments as the studio moves toward the definitive conclusion of the long-running series.
