Marvel Studios is moving forward with its highly anticipated X-Men film. Development has been a quiet priority since the acquisition of 20th Century Studios assets, and production is now slated to begin. While Marvel navigated its Multiverse Saga, fans expressed a clear interest in seeing these characters enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe before the conclusion of the current timeline.
Kevin Feige confirmed that the story will center on Jean Grey, played by Sadie Sink, following the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The narrative premise follows the classic comic structure where a newcomer discovers Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. This approach allows audiences to learn about the nature of mutants alongside the lead character. Christopher Abbott is cast as Professor Charles Xavier, adopting a younger profile for the leader of the school.
The production cast includes Kit Connor as Cyclops, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Inde Navarrette as Rogue. Adam Driver will portray the antagonist Nathaniel Milbury, also known as Mister Sinister, while Samara Weaving joins the cast as Emma Frost. These actors represent the primary class of mutants in this iteration of the shared universe.
Jake Schreier, known for his work on Thunderbolts, is set to direct. The screenplay comes from Joanna Calo and Lee Sung-Jin. Filming occurs at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom. The project currently has a scheduled release date of May 5, 2028. This film serves as one of the initial entries following the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, signaling a potential shift in the narrative focus of the cinematic universe toward mutant-centric storylines.
