The New York Film Festival has confirmed that the world premiere of Takashi Yamazaki’s latest project, Godzilla Minus Zero, will occur next month. The film serves as a direct follow-up to the Academy Award-winning success of Godzilla Minus One. It is scheduled to be a Spotlight Gala selection at Alice Tully Hall on September 26. Set in 1949, two years after the events of the previous film, the story follows the Shikishima family as they face new threats. The film is slated for a North American theatrical release on November 6.
Takashi Yamazaki became the first director to secure an Oscar for Best Visual Effects since Stanley Kubrick. His work on this franchise is credited with revitalizing interest in the long-running monster series.
