Ryan Gosling to join Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ghost Rider

Marvel Studios has confirmed a major addition to its roster at San Diego Comic-Con. Ryan Gosling is set to play the lead role in a new film featuring the character Ghost Rider. The actor took the stage during the weekend event to share his enthusiasm for the project, noting that he has sought this specific role for years.

This project represents the third attempt to adapt the motorcycle-riding anti-hero for the screen. The previous films, released in 2007 and 2011, starred Nicolas Cage. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige introduced Gosling, mentioning that fan interest in this casting choice has persisted for a long time. The production is scheduled for a 2028 release date.

Director Shawn Levy will lead the project. Levy and Gosling, who currently work together on other upcoming films, spent time during previous productions discussing the character. Levy confirmed that their shared vision for the story prompted the decision to move forward with this partnership. Gosling expressed surprise and gratitude to be stepping into the role of Johnny Blaze.

Beyond the Ghost Rider announcement, the convention provided a series of updates for Marvel fans. The studio previewed content for the next Avengers film and confirmed plans for a 2028 release of Black Panther 3. Ryan Reynolds also appeared in his Deadpool costume to interact with cast members from other projects. The event highlighted a busy production schedule for the studio over the coming years.
