‘The Odyssey’ Surpasses $700 Million Globally After 12 Days in Theaters

Christopher Nolan’s latest film, The Odyssey, is now a massive success. The movie surpassed $700 million at the global box office only 12 days after its theatrical release. This performance establishes it as the fourth highest-grossing release of 2026. Domestic ticket sales account for $320.5 million, while international markets contribute $407.4 million to the total.

Industry analysts track the film’s trajectory toward the billion-dollar mark. If it hits this target in the coming week, it will join top 2026 performers like Toy Story 5 and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The project stands out for its high production budget of $250 million. It is expected to become the highest-grossing film of Nolan’s career, surpassing his previous hits within the Batman series.

The film relies heavily on Imax technology. As the first feature shot entirely with Imax cameras, it generated $140 million from that format alone. This milestone makes it the second-fastest title to cross the $100 million mark in Imax history, trailing only Avengers: Endgame. Ticket demand remains strong despite competition from other major studio releases.

These results are notable because the film has not yet opened in China. The Chinese market represents the second-largest moviegoing audience in the world. Local exhibitors there plan an extensive release for mid-August, which should increase the film’s total revenue further. The strong performance continues to signal a rebound for global cinema attendance this year.
